Wireless IP Traffic to Surpass Wired by 2018
Wireless IP Traffic by 2018 November 4, 2014 Annual global IP traffic will surpass the zettabyte (1000 exabytes) threshold in 2016. Global IP traffic will reach 1.1 zettabytes per year or 91.3 exabytes (one billion gigabytes) per month in 2016. By 2018, global IP traffic will reach 1.6 zettabytes per year, or 131.6 exabytes per month.
Cell Towers, Coverage Expand 20 Percent
Between 2010 and 2013, the number of cell sites grew 20 percent from 253,086 to 304,360 in the U.S. according to a survey by CTIA - The Wireless Association. The survey develops industry-wide information drawn from operational member and non-member wireless service providers. It has been conducted since January 1985.
Employment of Line Installers to Grow From 2012 to 2022
Employment of line installers and repairers is projected to grow 7 percent from 2012 to 2022. Good job opportunities are expected overall. Highly skilled workers with apprenticeship training or a 2year associate’s degree in telecommunications, electronics, or electricity should have the best job opportunities.
